Maxwell Hardwood Flooring

Maxwell Hardwood Flooring produces a wide variety of 3/4" and 1/2" unfinished solid strip hardwood flooring.  Each Maxwell strip floor will be custom sanded and finished to meet your exact specifications.  Boards are carefully milled to create ready-to-finish flooring with a precise tongue and groove configuration for easy installation.  All strip flooring is then graded according to the natural characteristics of it's appearance and is NOFMA certified.

Red Oak and White Oak are available in standard NOFMA grades:

Appearance alone will determine the grade of flooring since the strength of hardwood is achieved through interlocking tongues and grooves and is uniformly strong regardless of grade. Boards are individually graded according to the natural characteristics of their appearance. Grades are determined by clarity, grain appearance, knots, dark stains, character marks and other features that might have been present in the tree. All Maxwell Hardwood Flooring is produced and graded according to the Certified Grade Standards of NOFMA (The Wood Flooring Manufacturer's Association).

Bradley Additions is our diverse plank line manufactured in a variety of widths and species. Our 3/4" thick unfinished flooring showcases the craftsmanship of wider products with longer average lengths. The product is precision milled and ready for the most custom install, sand, and finish job imaginable. Custom orders are available for jobs which may include specifications of 2' to 10' or random widths. All of our products can be hand scraped at our facility. All other species will be available in Classic and Colonial grades:

• The Classic Grade has a more uniform and consistent appearance. The Classic floor may contain a few small knots, limited checking, minor mineral streaks, and similar characteristics. The grade contains no prominent defects.

• The Colonial Grade will contain knots, checking , color variations, mineral streaks and other naturally occurring characteristics. The characteristics will vary depending upon the species of wood as each floor has its own unique appearance. Any defects that will weaken the floor are removed.

Legacy Flooring is our premium line of white oak plank floors which include a Rift & Quartered floor as well as a Live Sawn floor.

Legacy Reserve:

Legacy Reserve Flooring is available in an unfinished 3/4" solid or a 5/8" engineered floor.  It  embodies all of the richness and beauty from true rift and quartered premium hardwood lumber. The appearance of the floor features grain variations and characteristics only found in this specific milling technique which results in a clean, long lined straight grain with flecking.  Rift & Quartered floors are known to be more stable with less expansion and contraction caused by changing temperature and humidity and can be used in a wider range of applications. 

Legacy Live:

Our Legacy Live Flooring is available in an unfinished 3/4" solid or a 5/8" engineered and showcases a cut of lumber known as Live Sawn. This technique has been used for centuries by European craftsmen and will give the floor an old world vibe with a rich mix of grains and patterns. Live Sawn is the most effective method of cutting the log because it utilizes the entire log.   The grain will contain a mix of quarter sawn, rift sawed and plain sawn.  This creates a very unique floor with ample character.

Legacy Flooring is sold as a natural appearance grade floor and will include all the rich grain characteristics and variations of the lumber it is milled from.

As a distributor or MFMA solid unfinished maple flooring, our customers can rest assured that our supply is sourced from responsibly managed forest in the U.S. and manufactured to produce some of the finest northern hard maple on the market today. Maple is harder than oak and is less prone to denting, very durable, widely available and can suit most budgets.  

Maple is available in the following grades:

2nd & Better

3rd Grade

Maple has a creamy blonde tone and a delicate grain, but has a 1450 rating on the Janka Scale which is harder than both red and white oak.  Depending upon the grade, maple can be very clean with no knots or it contain heavy character with knots and a variety of color tones.   Appearance alone will determine the grade and does not affect the the strength of the board.
